Grant from the Science and Research Fund of Southern Iceland

We congratulate our NORDRESS member, Ingibjörg Lilja Ómarsdóttir, PhD student in Environment and Natural Resources University of Iceland, who has been awarded a grant from the Science and Research Fund of Southern Iceland.

Ingibjörg Lilja is conducting a research project on community resilience and natural hazards with focus on social support. The aim is to understand how two communities, located in the vicinity of Eyjafjallajökull in Southern Iceland, experienced the challenge of dealing with the consequences of the Eyjafjallajökull eruption in 2010.

The Science- and Research Fund of Southern Icelands supports research projects that serve significant employment and/or academic purposes for Southern Iceland.  This award shows the appreciation of the local communities for these studies and is of great importance for Ingibjörg Lilja in her ongoing and future work.
